Onekama's varsity volleyball team hosted an invitational this past Saturday! The ladies came away hoisting the trophy and up five wins in the win column, bringing them to a 15-5-1 record on the season. So, how did things play out?
Onekama faced Lake Leelanau St Mary in their first two games. The Portagers took the first game in consecutive 25-12 sets. In their second game, LLSM jumped ahead with a 25-13 set win before the Portagers stormed ahead for another 25-12 victory and a 15-5 blowout win.
Next, the Portagers faced Glen Lake, who they defeated in three straight sets on the road just two days prior to the invitational. The ladies took their first set 25-5 and their second set 25-12. Onekama's greatest challenge of the day then came against Hart. Despite Hart's best efforts, however, the Portagers triumphed in 25-23 and 25-21 sets.
Congratulations, ladies!
Up next, varsity and junior varsity volleyball will travel to Frankfort on Tuesday; game action begins at 5:30 PM. Onekama will also host Suttons Bay this week in varsity and junior varsity action this Thursday at 5:30 PM!
In their last two matches at the invitational, Onekama faced Grand Traverse Academy before rematching against Hart. GTA fell to the Portagers in 25-9 and 25-10 sets; Hart, meanwhile, struggled in their second set against Onekama. The Portagers took the final game in 25-10 and 25-12 sets to win the invitational.
