To continue our Senior Spotlight series, we are focusing on cheer co-captain Hannah Evans! This is her third year on the team, and we will be learning about how impactful cheer has been to her.

What’s your favorite thing about cheerleading?
My favorite thing about cheerleading is hanging out with my team. This team feels like a family to me, so just having the time to hang out with them during practice or even outside of practice.

What is one goal you have before you graduate?
One goal I have before graduating is to get accepted into one of the colleges on my list.

What career do you want to do in the future?
I want to be a lawyer in the future. I really want to help people out, so even if I can’t become a lawyer, I still want to pursue a career where I help people.

If you could give your freshman-self advice, what would you give her?
The one piece of advice I would give to my freshman self is to join cheerleading and try new sports out.

If you could go back and relive one grade, which would it be and why?
Junior year. The reason I would go back is because it was hard academically, and I think now, knowing just how difficult it was, I would know how to handle it better.

What are some things you learned as a student athlete?
One thing I learned as a student athlete is that it is important to stay on top of your work. I try to get my work done at least a day before the due date.

What is your favorite movie?
My favorite movie is Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Personally, I felt like this Spider-Man movie was trying to set up a plot for the next movie or maybe the X-Men series.

Do you have any pets?
I have one dog and three cats. Even though I have three cats in my house, only two of them are mine.

How has your senior experience been going so far this year?
My experience as a senior has been good so far. The workload has been really light. Also, I feel like it is flying by really fast.

Is there anything different about being a senior than you thought it would be?
I thought being a senior would be so exciting, but now that I'm a senior, I'm really sad because I feel like there is so much I have not tried yet.

Is there anyone you looked up to throughout high school? If so, why?
I have looked up to Mr. Harding and Mrs. Bradford. The reason I look up to them is because they have always been there for me, and they have pushed me to try something even if I did not believe in myself.

What's something most people don’t know about you? Something most people don’t know about me is that I have a hard time trying new things. I have this deep fear that anything new I try, people will be making fun of me.

Thank you, Hannah, for this personality-filled interview! We hope the rest of your senior year, and cheer season goes well!
