Onekama Industrial Technology Award

 

The Paul Foster memorial student of the year in industrial technology at Onekama High School goes to sophomore Colin VanVoorst, a second year woods student. The award is given each year to the student that demonstrates self direction, citizenship, work ethic and craftsmanship in the field of wood working. Colin produced this maple table from his own design. Colin receive a 1st place award at the region 13 MITES convention held at Big Rapids on the 4-5th in May and qualified for the state awards held at Saginaw Valley State University held on the 11th-13th of May. The top 4 places from all 20 regions qualify for the state convention with possibility of 80 projects in any one category. Colin receives a 6th place state award in the WO-18 category.   It is only fitting this annual award be dedicated in honor of students who’s love and passion for woods is constant through out the academic year.
