Congratulations to the Equestrian Team on their 4th place in the MIHA District 9 competition!

Congratulations to the Onekama/Bear Lake track teams on their performance this past weekend at Hudsonville. All-State honors were earned by the boys 3200 relay team of Jordan Anderson, Shane Peterson, Josh Davis, and John Girven (5th Place), the girls 800m relay team of Alyson Fink, Meredith Hengy, Grace Hughes, and Alycia Peterson (4th Place), and Meredith Hengy in the 100m hurdles (8th place).  Congrats to the rest of the competitors for their efforts, the boys 1600 relay and girls 3200 relay set big personal bests, but came up just 1 place short of earning all-state honors. A great season for the Portager track team in 2014!

Attention Students and Staff:  Thank you for a great year for Onekama's Food Service Department.  Your support of the vending machine has been great.  The vending machine will be closed for the remainder of the school year.  It will reopen next fall with more options to serve you.  Thank you again!

Junior Varsity and Varsity Girls Basketball and MS and HS Cross Country  sign up for next fall is in the Student Services Office.

Middle School students please pick up your clay projects from the Art Studio.

The Onekama Baseball team will be hosting a blood drive on Friday, June 6 at Onekama High School from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Bear Lake will be offering a Driver Education class for Segment 1 students beginning on Wednesday, June 11 at 7:00 - 9:00 am for two weeks.  The course is being offered by Moss' Road Rules, LLC at a cost of $250 per student. Class will take place at Bear Lake and driving will be scheduled with the student - Blair Moss is the instructor/owner and he works with the kids summer schedules to get them through the course and still allow them to work and play!!!  If a student is interested and wants to sign up have them call 231-882-0379 or send me an email at  by June 10.  Payment needs to be received by the end of the class.

Please Support Prom Boutique by returning your borrowed dress or donating a gently used prom dress.  All donations can be dropped off at your HS Office.

Looking for a fun summer activity?  There will be a Children’s Theater Workshop available for students throughout the county in Grades 3-8.  The dates are August 18-22 from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00  p.m. at Manistee High School.  If interested, applications are available in the office.

Manistee Youth and Futures Team Tennis for students under age 14 sponsored by the MRA begins June 16th.  Cost is $50.  Registration deadline is May 30th.  Flyers are available in the Student Services Office.

Camp Arcadia on Lake Michigan will be having an Alpha Teen Retreat June 8-14.  To register, you must be entering 9th or 10th grade next year.  Flyers are available in the Student Services Office.

The Michigan Dept. of Transportation is offering a Youth Program May through August for students ages 16 and over who have at least a 2.5 GPA.  Crew leaders $10/hour and workers $8.50/hour.  Activities include culvert clean out, weed whip guardrails, litter pick up, park work, etc.  Apply at the Road Commission, 8946 Chippewa Hwy., Bear Lake.  Flyers and more information are available in the Student Service Office.

Attention 10th, 11th and 12th graders - A community member is looking to hire someone for 3 days per week, 6-8 hours per day for $10/hour throughout the summer to do yard work.  Please contact the Student Services Office if you are interested.
